Mohamed Ali Kechiche

Mohamed Ali Kechiche is a pianist and musicologist from Tunis, Tunisia, currently pursuing his undergraduate studies in Music & Interpretation (Piano Performance) at the Higher Institute of Music of Tunis. Coming from a family of musicians, he approaches music in an intellectually engaged manner, seeking not only to interpret repertoire but to contextualize it through historical, cultural, and analytical lenses.

His training includes piano studies with prestigious professors such as the late Dr. Ralph Wilson Cooper, Füsun Güray Regaieg, and currently Dr. Mehdi Trabelsi. He previously studied at the Conservatoire Kaddour Srarfi de Musique et de Danse, receiving instruction from renowned musicians and academics such as Amina Srarfi. His repertoire spans a wide range of styles and eras, with a particular focus on the works of J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, and Bartók. Alongside piano performance and musicology. Mohamed Ali Kechiche maintains a multidisciplinary interest in attending seminars and lectures in the fields of philosophy, cultural studies, history, and the arts to broaden his artistic and academic perspectives. He is particularly interested in ethnomusicology and post-colonial studies, which inform his understanding of music’s social functions and global contexts.

As an educator, he has taught piano and music in various settings. His teaching emphasizes both technical development and interpretive depth, aiming to foster creativity, critical listening, and artistic independence. Mohamed Ali Kechiche is also engaged in cultural life beyond academia. He is an active member of Club Culturel Ali Belhouane, where he contributes to cultural programming and outreach efforts. He advocates for the democratization of the arts and believes in music’s role as a vehicle for community engagement and collective expression.
