Final Symposium in Tunis: Reflecting, Sharing, and Looking Ahead

7 April–11 April 2025

Event Location

  • Tunis (Tunisia)

The Tawasol project culminated in a Final Workshop and Public Symposium in Tunis, offering a space for reflection, exchange, and forward-thinking collaboration. Over five days, fellows, project partners, cultural practitioners, and academics came together to celebrate the network’s achievements and imagine its future.

Held across key cultural institutions in Tunis and its surroundings—including the Goethe-Institut, Ennejma Ezzahra, and the Moment Residency in Ghar Al Milh—the program featured project presentations by the Tawasol Fellows, showcasing the diverse and innovative formats of knowledge transfer they had developed during their residencies.

Workshops and roundtables addressed pressing issues in international cultural relations: from the challenges of curating in a global context and fostering transcultural exchange in music, to creating sustainable ecosystems for local cultural funding. Discussions also examined the role of foreign cultural policy in Tunisia and the future of science diplomacy in the region.

Artistic interventions, exhibitions, and performances complemented the academic sessions, including a vernissage of “Places in the In-Between” and a city-based installation curated by the Interference collective. These events underlined the project’s emphasis on practice-based exchange and public engagement.

The symposium marked not an endpoint, but a new beginning: Through the launch of this knowledge exchange platform, the network continues to connect critical voices across regions and disciplines through a permanent online presence.
