Research Project
This Photo Series documents the research process and atmosphere of the two-month Arts and Science Research-Residency, conducted by Chiara Keßel and Johanna Diekmann in Tunis in summer 2024 as part of the Tawasol project. Their Research focused on the intersection of art and politics in post-revolutionary Tunisia, with a particular emphasis on the role of young female artists within the context of current social, political, and cultural dynamics.
The photographic impressions capture moments from interviews, everyday encounters, and collaborative exchanges—ranging from film and interview settings to spontaneous scenes of urban life. They reflect the duo’s attempt to understand how artists in Tunisia navigate, express, and perceive their influence on political discourse and societal issues.
As an extension of the documentary film project, the images offer a visual narrative of the fieldwork’s relational and spatial dimensions. Framing artistic practice as both subject and method of inquiry, this gallery becomes part of a broader effort to explore alternative forms of knowledge transfer—emotional, aesthetic, and situated.
